Adolescents and Their Families
Teenagers are my passion! Healing takes place at any age, the earlier the better. While working with teens and tweens, I like to hear from them individually about what their needs are and what they’re really asking for with their less-than-ideal behaviors. I also work closely with parents, as a team, to exchange updates and ideas.
In time I serve as a bridge to help the youths communicate their needs and experiences to their families. This results in strengthening of attachment bonds and learning healthy skills of communication and conflict resolution. During this process, a stronger sense of positive identity often emerges and clarity is found regarding direction for the future. Relationships become healthier, and concentration and school performance frequently improve. Most of all, there is a greater sense of peace in the family as everyone learns to speak about their own feelings and works to provide individualized support to each other.
Adults
"Adulting" can be challenging, regardless of age or experience. Sometimes it's just too much. Past experiences rise up and haunt us in the present, affecting us in unwanted thoughts and behaviors. Or we feel exhausted, underappreciated, overwhelmed by life and its demands. Sometimes we just...need...a break.
Give yourself the gift of a few sessions. Come relax, have some "me-time," an hour that's entirely focused on you and what you need. I provide a listening ear, compassionate perspective, and I promise not to judge. Most of us have overdrawn our bank accounts, alienated our loved ones, or made regrettable decisions at one time or another in our lives.
Whether you're dealing with something small or large, you don't have to do this alone. We can do this together, find strategies to make life and relationships a little easier. Take a deep breath. Somehow, some way...you always pull through. I will help you find and utilize your strength.
Clinical Supervision Toward Licensure (LCSW/LPC)
Congratulations on making it this far! Getting through graduate school is a success on its own, and becoming professionally licensed can be a valuable next step in your career.
In order to become licensed in Colorado , a person with a master's in social work needs 96 hours of professional supervision by an LCSW, at least 48 hours of which must be face-to-face. A person with a master's in counseling needs 100 hours of professional supervision by an LCSW or LPC, at least 70 of which must be face-to-face.
I would be happy to work with you to meet these requirements, providing supervision either in person, via video conferencing, or by phone. I have a warm, open style of communication; we’ll work together to determine your professional goals and how to achieve them. I provide a safe, confidential space to explore triggers, strengths, and the ups and downs of working in this field. I have a wealth of therapeutic interventions to teach; it would be my honor to walk beside you in this journey.
